Objective:

Staffing Firm that specializes in
Engineers for the Automotive and
Manufacturing Industries. We are
currently looking for a Environmental
Health & Safety Engineer with the
following background:
Our Client designs and produces advanced
systems and components for the
automotive industry.
Purpose of position:
Guarantee the management of issues
related to health, safety and
environmental compliance and
conservation in cooperation with the BL
EHS Manager.
Responsibilities
1. Contribute to the development of
H&S guidelines and policies according to
local regulations our Clients rules, and
Fiat’s World Class Manufacturing (WCM)
system in regards to its Safety & Health
Pillar and the Environmental Pillar.
2. Assess the risk factors and
relevant incident data and identify the
measures for workers' safety and health
in the workplace.
3. Identify and evaluate the
environmental aspects of the facility
and its operations, research and
implement minimization techniques to
reduce Environmental impact.
4. Develop and maintain H&S and
Environment management systems,
certified according to OHSAS 18001, ISO
14001, and WCM, based on the information
relating to the nature of the risks,
organization of work, planning and
implementation of preventive, protective
and predictive measures, characteristics
of plant and production processes,
workplace accidents and occupational
diseases, sensitivity of the external
environment and the requirements of the
supervisory bodies.
5. Ensure the periodic inspections
required by the Systems (ISO, OHSAS and
WCM) in order to verify the correct
implementation and to promote corrective
actions and preventive measures to
promote continuous improvement.
6. Participate with “5S”
implementation and continuous
improvement
7. Analyze the Federal, State and
local laws, implement and promote them
within the Plant.
8. Ensure required updating and
posting of annual OSHA incident reports
and other agency required postings
9. Serve as company representative
during visits/inspections from outside
authorities such as MIOSHA, MDEQ, Local
Fire Marshall, Worker’s Comp. Carrier
and other Insurance providers
10. Collaborate with technical
authorities to the definition of the
measures of prevention and protection as
well as the control system.
11. Implement Our Clients WCM policy
and procedures and, if necessary,
develop specific ones, to manage EHS
issues and support the Plant Manager to
monitor them
12. Identify the appropriate
personal protective equipment (PPE) to
be used as a result of the risk
assessment and continuous improvement
actions.
13. Work with qualified and approved
Vendors to select appropriate safety
equipment, signs, labels, PPE, etc.
14. Create Purchase Requisitions in
SAP to obtain Purchase Order
Authorization
15. Propose, develop, and deliver
programs of information and training for
employees.
16. Manage facility refuse, and
recycling collection and disposal
17. Establish regulated waste
collection and disposal including waste
profiles for liquid waste, solid waste,
and universal waste and maintain Waste
Manifest tracking records and required
communications with the state.
18. Maintain and update facility
Safety Data Sheets both electronically
and in the SDS book located in the plant
for employee access.
19. Guarantee the Company reporting
update on SAD (Standard Application
Data) for Environment, Safety and
consumption indicators.
20. Willing to serve in a Loss
Prevention Key Role as either the Risk
Officer or Fire Officer as appointed
21. Serve as the liaison between the
facility Security Company and Operations
to determine and maintain the burglary
and fire alarm systems.
Qualifications:
1. Environment Engineer;
2. Five years’ experience in the
EHS field in a manufacturing
environment;
3. Knowledge of Federal, State, and
local EHS laws and regulations;
4. Good PC skills (strong Excel
skills for WCM purposes)
Good communication skills and
interpersonal skills;
The position is in North Oakland County.
