Medical Experience:
* Medical Assistant extern at Mountainview House while working here, I took residents vitals including pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and temperature. I admistered glucose testing to residents and recorded results in residents charts. I helped prepare charts for new residents, also protected the security of records to ensure confidentiality was maintained. I reviewed charts for completeness; I also retrieved residents charts for medical personnel. I answered the phone and directed phone calls to the appropriate staff member. Greeted visitors and obtained who they where to see and directed them to appropriate staff or resident. Prepared medications and help dispense medication directed by physician.
* Collected blood, and other laboratory specimens. Logged the specimens and prepared them for testing by using correct coding procedures. I would transmit correspondences or medical records by fax.
* I would explain the testing procedure to a patient to help reduce stress and cooperation, I would then obtain and record patient identification, and prepare and position patient for testing. Then I would attach electrodes to patients chest, arms, and legs, then connect the electrodes to leads from the electrocardiogram (EKG) machine. Then operate the EKG machine to obtain reading. I would make sure to adjust equipment and controls according to physicians orders.
* I performed eye exams on patients using a Snellen chart. Cleaned and sterilized instruments according to guidelines.
* I would use proper medical terms, and insurance information. I would help set up appointments for activities.
