Objective: Recent Syracuse University graduate looking to transition into a career in video editing/production.
Experience: Coming out of High School, I knew that I wanted to pursue an education in video and the fine arts. I was a member of the award winning Sleepy Hollow Digital Yearbook/Sleepy Hollow Hits team that was recognized by Adobe in 2007 with their 'Site of the Day' award. I was selected amongst the students to attend Adobe MAX 2007 in Chicago, IL which is where I realized what I wanted to do in the future.
Upon arriving at Syracuse University as an Art Video major, I began to adapt to the college lifestyle and seek out organizations where I could utilize my talents. In the Spring of 2009, I joined Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Starting the Fall of 2009 until the Spring of 2011, I held the role of Director of Public Relations for the fraternity, working on social media strategies, advertisements, and videos in order to promote various events and causes. This followed with me executing the same role for the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations in the Fall of 2011 and Spring of 2012.
While holding these positions, I also held jobs as an IT consultant and communications intern. Starting June of 2011, I was Interactive Media Lab Consultant for the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. My role was to assist the community with graphic, web, and video content which I felt very confident doing given my background. One year later, in July of 2012, I began my internship with La Casita Cultural Center as a Graphic Design and Communications intern, where I utilized my combined skills to help strengthen the relationship between the center and Syracuse University's student body.
Now having graduated from Syracuse University and residing in Westchester County, I am seeking opportunities in New York City, hoping to pursue a career in video editing/production and motion graphics. On my spare time I volunteer as a teaching assistant at my former high school, for their current Sleepy Hollow Digital Yearbook/Sleepy Hollow Hits program. I am also a multimedia freelancer, creating logos, flyers, videos, illustrations, and animations for various clients. My work can be found at behance.net/OVibeMedia.
Currently, I am working part-time as an independent contractor. I hold the position of Social Media Manager and Video Editor for both EAR NYC Real Estate Group and Live Open House LLC in Midtown Manhattan. Having graduated this past December, I look at this position as an important stepping stone in my career. Through it, I have gained the valuable experience of working with two start-ups at once. I have helped both groups vastly improve their social media presence while learning many new Social Media Marketing techniques along the way. As video editor, I have assisted in the production of new video content to help promote both the groups and their clients.
Now, I am looking for new opportunities to further my career, and I wish to dedicate myself and my passion to an organization on a full time basis.
