OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANT

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative:

Sets patients' appointment / schedule of examination in the department and inform them the cost and preparation needed for the test. Attends the Department's incoming phone calls and inquiries courteously and accurately, only if base within responsibility to disseminate information applies. Maintain and adhere to strict confidentiality of all files and records. Ensures the safekeeping and security of all assigned equipment, materials and supplies. Ensures that established company guidelines and policies are followed in all tasks and activities. Extends support to all Department activities and functions. Participate in Department / Division and company world-wide sponsored training, seminar, also attending the conducted seminar with compliance to Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology with this Institution. Assists and supervises trainees in the performance of their tasks. Performs other related tasks that may be assigned by the immediate superior.

Technical Function:

Performs refractive screening and other diagnostic examination as requested. Prepares materials and supplies needed for the refractive surgery. Assists refractive surgeons in performing the refractive surgery. Prepares, clean, sterilize instruments before and after surgery based on standard operating procedures. Responsible for conducting proper inventory for the medical, pharmaceutical supplies. Performs calibration of machines on a daily basis based on standard operating procedure to maintain efficiency. Communicates with patient effectively on the pre-op preparation and other refractive information to alleviate fear and anxiety.
