Analyzed previously manufactured dual shell and single shell reflector surfaces to investigate whether they would meet new company standards and regulations regarding tolerances.
Compiled a comprehensive technical presentation which compared individual reflector shells to the molds they were produced from using RMS deviation as well as minimum and maximum error.
Interpreted the results and suggested solutions as to how certain patterns of error that reoccur in multiple reflector shells can be eliminated or reduced.

Skills:
Composites: Worked with composite materials such as carbon fiber and fiber glass to construct a faring while working on the ASME Human Powered Vehicle Project.
CAD Software: Used CAD modeling and simulation tools of Solid Works and NX to construct a model of the Human Powered Vehicle. Following the vehicle construction, ran aerodynamic, stress and impact analysis to validate the selection of various material and design aspects.
'Green' Technology: Designed and build a bicycle almost completely out of renewable materials. The frame was fabricated by mitering bamboo together then reinforcing the various joints by wrapping them with hemp fiber strands solidified with epoxy. Also, constructed a partial front fairing using a female mold. The fairing was made entirely out of hemp cloth solidified with epoxy and reinforced with bamboo cross-members. The fairing also had a power-film flexible solar panel installed on the front, which powered a handlebar mounted cell phone charger.

Professional Activities/Organizations:
American Society of Mechanical Engineering, Human Powered Vehicle Project (2009-2012) - Designed and built a carbon fiber faring for a recumbent style bicycle by first constructing a male mold then laying up the left and right side individually. Both of the sides were vacuum bagged to ensure the removal of as much excess epoxy as possible. After new course description and requirements were posted for the 2012 competition, the team decided to go in a different direction by building a upright bicycle with a partial detachable faring. The frame was constructed almost entirely out of such renewable materials as bamboo and hemp. Our vehicle finished 5th overall in the 2012 West Coast Human Powered Vehicle Competition as well as received a special award for most successful use of a renewable material.
