Experience:
BRIEF

Since 1998 I have been involved in the design, implementation and construction of underground fiber optic
utilities, in the capacity of OSP Lead Engineer, Project Lead Inspector; Mid/Post-Construction Asbuilt and
Fiber Utility Locator.

Most of the past 10 years has been with Sprint, as our client, covering the greater San Francisco Bay Area
and responsible for over 120 miles of main fiber optic communications cable. For five of those years I served
as Sprint’s only cable locator during the CalTrain/BART Extension Project (JPB), CTX North/South and
VTA/BART Extension on the East Bay corridor working alongside, and in direct confluence of other utility
companies including MCI, Qwest, PG&E, Level3, Kinder Morgan, Chevron, Locating methods used were with
state-of-the-art underground utility locating for all pre-excavation and site planning needs as well as ground
penetrating radar (GPR).

EXPERIENCE
2008 - Current CASCADE DESIGN Hornbrook, CA 96044
CLIENT: SPRINT-Nextel
POSITIONS: OSP Field Engineer/Inspector
DUTIES: Responsible for all aspects of construction inspection, asbuilts and implementation and
oversight of proper construction methods as per Sprint Underground/Aerial Fiber Optic
Construction Guidelines, and in accordance to the UPRR rules, regulations and agency
agreements. As the onsite inspector, I ensured that the vital long-haul fiber optic cable
(Sprint’s major link between Los Angeles and San Francisco) was constantly secure and
void of any jeopardy by ongoing construction crews and equipment.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE: Able to read and interpret engineering asbuilts, legal descriptions;
understanding of telecom industry standards, plant symbols and terminology. I possess
knowledge of telecom measurements, clearances, safety guidelines and structure
requirements both aerial and subsurface (GO-95). Proficient in underground cable locating detection
devices such as 3M Dynatel and Radio Detection RD4000.

2008 SUNBELT TELECOMMUNICATIONS Largo, FL 33774
CLIENT: QWEST
POSITIONS: OSP Field Engineer/Inspector
DUTIES: 40-mile long-haul US Govt Services fiber optic installation. Responsibilities included on-site
installation inspection including metro/rural directional boring, handhole / manhole setting,
bore tie-ins, conduit duct proofing, fiber cable pulling/blowing for 120ct and 48ct fiber optic
cable and all related asbuilts and redlines.

2000-2007 ITC SERVICE GROUP, INC Citrus Heights, CA 95610
CLIENT: SPRINT – Trans Ops, San Francisco Bay Area, CA
POSITION: OSP Engineer; Construction Inspector; Fiber Optic Cable Locator
DUTIES: During the five year contract with Sprint Trans Ops I was responsible for the proper
location of their underground fiber cable during the extensive 40-mile CTX CalTrain and
BART relocation projects that stretched from downtown San Francisco to San Jose, CA. I
was directly involved with on-site inspection during the multitude of railroad crossing grade
separations, fiber optic relocation and subsequent reconstruction of duct banks. Scope of
work often was in coordination with MCI/WorldCom, AT&T, Qwest and other subsurface
utilities. My area of responsibility consisted of over 120 miles of fiber optic cable. I was also
responsible for on-site construction inspection and protection for Sprint’s backbone from
Los Angeles to Seattle, WA. In five years I never had as much as a ‘near miss’, a testament
to my dedication and commitment to the client’s need for reliable protection.

1998-2000 COMPLUS, LP Sacramento, CA
CLIENTS: SPRINT, LEVEL-3, RCN, QWEST
POSITIONS: OSP Engineer; Cable Locator; Aerial Cable Design; Feasibility & Permitting Agent
DUTIES: Pre-construction design and field engineering for fiber optic cabling; pre-AutoCAD field
notes; on-site construction inspection; feasibility determination and on-site problem-solving
and relocation. (ITC Service Group acquired Sprint contract, see above)

1987-1998 UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR – BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT (BLM)
POSITION: Fire Captain; Fire Crew Supervisor; Firefighter Academy Instructor
DUTIES: Coordinated fire crews in wildland fire management and suppression situations.
Responsible for decisions involved in defining and implementing appropriate tactics and
strategies in safe fire suppression. Experienced in radio communications; fire weather
forecasting; extreme fire behavior; topography and fuel types; and firefighter safety.

1978-1980 UNITED STATES AIR FORCE Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, Myrtle Beach, SC
354th Tactical Fighter Wing; HQ Combat Support
DUTIES: Supported the A-10A Fairchild Fighter Aircraft Wing by creating schematics, aerial photo
graphs, cartographic images and mechanical drawings used in air combat training
