1994 Advertising Director - Best Locator Magazine Ventura, Ca.
Lead gen, B2B cold calling selling the value propositions of a new travel magazine for the central coast. Success with this issue and interest in the magazine expanded my territory and two new publications into the Oxnard, Santa Paula, Ventura and Santa Barbara geographies. Designed ads, consulted with clients on market penetration and how to increase it, consulted on better use of their advertising dollars, wrote short articles on some of our advertisers. Renewals, contracts and oversight of magazines delivery. Franchises became open; I interviewed, qualified and sold to new franchisees. Campaign development, strategy development, training of new employees.

Notable achievements: This was a start up, we used prototypes and spec ads to introduce the magazine into the market, the first issue had to be doubled in number of pages to accommodate all of the advertising sold. Due to one issue being published late due to the printer –one large advertiser wanted to pull, I met with them and rather than pulling walked away with a larger ad in one magazine and a pick up into another one receiving cash for the up sale.
