A position as an editor or a reporter for a newspaper, news magazine or radio station.

More than 20 years of experience with print and broadcast news reporting and editing, including environmental, business and general news.

* Waste and Recycling News, Crain Communications Inc., Akron, Ohio, 1997 to Present. Positions have included senior reporter and copy editor. Report on changes in federal, state and local legislation and regulation impacting environmental, waste management and recycling practices. Coverage areas include Congress, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Defense Department, prisons, and government agencies. Write business profiles, feature stories, and merger and acquisition stories. Also provide news coverage from trade association conferences.

* The Morning Journal, Lorain, Ohio, 1992-1997. Assistant city editor. Supervised reporters and contributed to reporting for the newspaper’s bureaus in Norwalk and Sandusky. Edited reporters’ stories, prepared the daily news budget and made story and photography assignments.

* WOBL Radio, Oberlin, Ohio, 1983-1992. News director, anchor and reporter. Hired and supervised news reporters, made story assignments, coordinated remote news broadcasts and organized elections coverage. Reported on police, local government and court activities. My recommendations led to computerization of the newsroom. WOBL was one of the first radio stations in the state to begin receiving AP feeds directly into a desktop computer instead of through a Teletype.

Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. Graduated cum laude in June 1983.

Skills include headline writing, photography, page layout and design, and supervising reporters and photographers.

* Ohio Society of Professional Journalists First Place Award in 2006 for Hurricane Katrina coverage.
* Several Cleveland Press Club awards and a finalist for the Jesse H. Neil award in 2006 for Hurricane Katrina coverage.
* Ohio Associated Press – First Place for Best Regularly Scheduled News in 1991.
