Position: Accountant II



Insurance Agency is seeking a full-time Accountant II (Mid-Level) with a great attitude and strong work ethic to join our amazing staff.


The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance as well as professional level experience. He or she must have a pleasant and courteous personality, strong administrative and organizational skills, strong phone and computer skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have critical thinking, proficient in math and accurate with a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Qualifications/Skills:



  • Bachelor's Degree in job-related field (Finance, Accounting, etc.)

  • EPIC Accounting Software Experience Required

  • Minimum 1 Year accounting work experience, 2+ Years preferred

  • Advanced skill with computers and bookkeeping software

  • Strong typing skills including 10 keys

  • Knowledge of financial principles and reporting

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Professional manner and strong ethical code

  • Exceptional time management, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive

  • Commitment to working efficiently and accurately

Job Responsibilities:



  • Manage agency billing, reconcile banks balances, process ACH and credit card transactions

  • Prepare bank deposits

  • Create and update expense reports

  • Scan, file, and log accounting documents

  • Handle communication with clients and vendors via phone, email, and in-person

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable by creating invoices, entering bills, issuing checks, updating ledgers, budgets, etc.

  • Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions

  • Assist with audits, fact checks, and resolving discrepancies

  • Monitor office expenses to track annual budget

  • Commission accounting assistance

  • Maintain general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and control accounts; adjusting entries for amortization and prepaids; analyzing and reconciling retainage and accounts payable ledgers; preparing fixed asset depreciation and accruals

  • Coordinate with management and staff to prepare budgets, cash flow statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements

  • Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts

  • Assist with month end and year-end closing

  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
