Job Description:

O'Melveny & Myers LLP has an immediate opening in our Los Angeles office for a HR Assistant. This position is responsible for providing support to all areas of the Human Resources Department, which includes benefits, compensation, HRIS, recruiting, training and development, and employee relations. This position is also responsible for filing and maintaining shared databases, drafting communications, compiling reports and handling special projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with all levels of employees within the firm.

  • Coordinates schedules and logistics for department meetings, travel, events, and initiatives

  • Processes the department's expense reimbursements and invoices.

  • Performs a monthly reconciliation of invoices and purchase card payments.

  • Creates general correspondences and circulates communications on behalf of the department.

  • Maintains employee personnel files.

  • Oversees the firm's Staff Service Recognition Program.

  • Responds to inquires related to firm programs, policies and procedures.

  • Completes verifications of employment.

  • Arranges candidate interviews, which includes reserving conference rooms, sending email confirmations and handling ad hoc changes.

  • Assists the benefits team with initiatives such as wellness clinics, court orders, ad hoc projects and mass mailings.

  • Available to work overtime or adjust work hours as needed to accommodate the workload.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


  • Minimum one year of human resources administrative experience in a professional services environment.

  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency with MS Word, Excel (advanced knowledge preferred), Outlook and other MS Office applications.

  • Experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), preferably Workday.

  • Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and/or other talent management systems is preferred.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate excellent judgement.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Must be proactive and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Professional Human Resource Certification preferred.
