Job Description:


This position is primarily responsible for accounting processes and procedures, recording financial transactions, and preparing and reviewing financial reconciliations in support of a complete, timely and accurate financial close cycle. The position will also prepare financial analyses as directed to support the business' functional leaders in making key operational decisions.


Responsibilities



Monthly Close:



  • Prepare timely and accurate journal entries according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations each month.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation and position memos needed to support the recording of business transactions.

  • Identify and understand variances generated in the monthly close process, taking action as needed, to correct errors or to inform management of findings.

  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and internal control procedures.

  • Assist with providing accurate information and responding timely to inquiries from the Company's Internal and External Auditors.



Financial Reporting:



  • Compile, review and distribute accurate standardized, routine reporting on a timely basis to support the financial close process.

  • Research and respond timely to inquiries from other team members, including store personnel, regarding the accuracy of financial information and reports.



FP&A/Budgeting:



  • Prepare and present period-ending analyses (e.g. - variance analysis) and reporting on key business initiatives to support management.

  • Create ad hoc financial analyses and reports to senior management to support and recommend business decisions.

  • Conduct, perform, report, and present, special financial studies as directed in coordination with other departments.

  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and monthly forecasts, analyzing financial performance, establishing goals and developing recommendations on profit, expense and cost saving opportunities.


Qualifications



Experience: 3+ years of related accounting and finance experience is required. Retail experience is preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.
Other knowledge, skills or abilities:



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Knowledge of business intelligence software, specifically Business Objects.
