Job Description:
The Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) seeks a Digital Communications Manager who is skilled in a wide range of communications, including using multimedia tools to create content aimed at reaching a diverse and wide range of audiences and constituencies. This is a key communications role that directly supports the Secretary of Health and Human Services and works in collaboration with the Governor’s Office. The Digital Communications Manager Reports to the Assistant Secretary of Communications who leads a high-performance team that also includes a Media Relations Manager and a Communications Coordinator. The team partners across the EOHHS secretariat on a daily basis, collaborating with cross functionally with legislative affairs, program managers, agency communications leads, and working groups focused on critical issues, such as fast-moving public health crises and proactive strategies (e.g., violence prevention). Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

The ideal candidate will exhibit a high level of ownership of day-to-day tasks, projects, and deliverables for content areas including the following:



Digital, Web, and social media content:

Actively manage EOHHS social media presence and create digital content across channels (e.g., Twitter), including executing integrated campaigns;

Create static and motion graphic content on multiple platforms;

Develop video content; incorporate use of creative programs like Canva;

Partner with agencies on social media campaigns; function as a subject matter expert by offering coaching and input or ideas to support their efforts;

Monitor and update EOHHS presence on Mass.GOV (Drupal platform);

Serve as an advisor/consultant to our 12 agencies in the development of new pages and/or special programs and campaigns.

General communications:
Refine messaging and translate across a range of communications, including: speeches, one-pagers, testimony on legislative priorities, op-eds, etc.;

Translate technical information (particularly health care policy and operations) in clear terms to a range of audiences, from influencer/thought leader to consumer;

Support high profile internal and external events by capturing content via photography, video, etc.;

Develop and lead integrated communications campaigns around administration and secretariat priorities in partnership with the Assistant Secretary and Media Relations Manager.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and abilities:

Thrives in a fast-paced, environment that deals with high-profile issues on a daily basis;

Seeks, and is comfortable receiving, feedback - particularly receiving edits to written communications – and is able to continue to move the project and deliverable forward with the benefit of constructive criticism;

Comfortable and productive working at all levels of the organization, can hold their own with senior executives, and build trusting and productive relationships with peers at EOHHS, its agencies and partner organizations;

Direct experience in health care and/or human services is preferred, however, an interest in health care and human services is required;

Experience with Drupal is preferred

Experience creating multimedia content, including video and graphics, with experience with programs like Canva preferred;

Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience.
