Job Description




Essential Functions:



  • Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data, including employee stock transactions. Uses HRIS system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

  • Reconciles payroll taxes after each payroll and reconciles quarterly and year-end tax reports. Administers W-2 processing and 1095(c)'s. Serves as the primary contact for the payroll vendor.

  • Performs various journal entries, account reconciliations, and provides general ledger support to finance.

  • Stays current on payroll systems to achieve alignment with HR benefits and to ensure effective accounting support.

  • Facilitates employee understanding of payroll process.

  • Develops, makes recommendations and implements procedures to improve all aspects of the payroll process, including time and attendance.

  • Prepares and processes wage garnishments and child support withholdings, researches issues relating to the processing of such claims and exercises judgement regarding competing claims and processes.

  • Compiles reports as required by management and government agencies regarding employee payroll issues.

  • Researches associate payroll issues, evaluates and determines approaches to provide resolution.

  • Establishes, maintains and/or builds business relationships with associates and management and exercises independent discretion and judgment to resolve payroll disputes.

  • Completes other duties and projects as necessary.





Qualifications:



  • Must demonstrate good judgment, high ethical standards, and the proven ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Must have strong planning and organizational skills, the ability to meet goals, objectives and deadlines, and the proven ability to handle a variety of responsibilities with minimal supervision.

  • Requires the ability to interact effectively with associates throughout the organization,including vendor partners and other customers and stakeholders.





Education and Experience:



  • High School Diploma

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in payroll/payroll management

  • In-depth knowledge of payroll and IRS regulations required.

  • Multi-state payroll experience required

  • Advanced knowledge of Workday or similar cloud solution required. Workday experience strongly preferred.

  • Skilled in operation of a personal computer, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel preferred.

  • Professional certification in Payroll (such as FPC and CPP) preferred





Computer and Software Skills:



  • Skilled in operation of a personal computer, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Experience with Google-based products (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.) preferred
