We are looking for part-time Peer Advocates to join our team based in Chatauqua county.

Description Summary 

The position of Peer Advocate provides telephone support to persons calling for assistance with non-crisis situations or in need of social connection.

Primary Responsibilities 

-Answer incoming calls on the Warm Line per scheduled calls, which is an alternative to a crisis line that is run by peers where the peer provides telephone support to persons calling for assistance with non-crisis situations or in need of social connection
-Maintain positive and active conversation with callers and to empower callers
-Provide support, information, and referrals when needed as well as companionship and an active listening demeanor
-Assist Peer Companions at the respite house.
-Maintain telephone logs and notes required. Highlighting all new callers
-Complete all paperwork on time
-Refer any crisis or emergency concerns promptly to supervisor
-Work as scheduled which includes nights, weekends and holidays, informing supervisor in any need for scheduling changes
-Attend meetings as scheduled
-Displays a positive, cooperative attitude toward assignments and requirements
-Research community events and help maintain a community calendar
-Run a live chat support window
-Prepare and mail out appropriate information as needed
-Assist, when needed, other areas of the respite house where the warm line is situated, including but not limited to assisting peer companions and doing household chores.
-Assist outreach program when needed
-Assist with pre-screening intake interviews for the respite home
-Share personal experience and encourage mental health wellness and recovery

Qualifications 

-High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
-Must have a valid Class D Driver License, reliable transportation and automobile insurance.
