Job Description:

We are seeking a Palantir subject matter expert (SME) with extensive experience in utilizing the Palantir Gotham Platform. The SME will support the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Cybersecurity, Architecture & Implementation, Information Technology Security Implementation (ITSI) program. You will work side-by-side with information security analysts to integrate Palantir with ITSI technologies, to include Splunk Enterprise (Splunk), and develop unique workflows while solving challenging problems.


The candidate may have to work 1 day a week at the IRS facility in New Carrollton MD, with remaining days working remotely from home. The selected candidate must be flexible and available to attend meetings or perform other activities in New Carrollton as required.




  • Collaborate with different IRS business units to understand their business audit and accountability requirements and how to integrate Palantir with different technologies, specifically Splunk, SailPoint, CyberArk, BigFix, and others.

  • Identify all of the Palantir auditable and actionable events that can be generated and forwarded to Splunk.

  • If necessary, develop alerting and detection strategies to identify malicious or anomalous behavior and integrate them into Splunk.

  • Support the installation of Universal Forwarders (UF) on the Palantir servers, and configure Palantir to forward auditable and actionable events to Splunk.

  • Dissect network, host, memory, and other artifacts originating from multiple operating systems and applications.

  • Provide security domain expertise on protective controls, to include system, network, encryption, and authentication services.

  • Develop new ways of automation for identification, remediation, and validation of security issues.

  • Perform enterprise-wide operations to hunt for sophisticated and undetected threats.

  • Help manage and/or secure Linux-based cloud systems and networks at scale.

  • Work closely with other members of the Cybersecurity team to lead changes in the company's network defense posture.

  • Assist cyber analysts with Palantir best practices.

  • Work with the technical writing team to insure creation of and updating of needed documentation.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required, or an additional four (4) years of related work experience can substitute for a degree

  • Five years of experience with Palantir.

  • Experience integrating Palantir with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems.

  • Strong communication oral and written skills with the ability to break down, explain, and demonstrate complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Knowledge of hardware, networks, and server administration, system troubleshooting

  • Ability to identify strategic improvements and delivering measurable business value in a planned manner.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Virtual Machine experience, to include operations and maintenance of the mentioned technologies is a must.

  • Proven ability to work on and with teams comprised of the primary client and other client stakeholders dispersed across geographical sites.



Additional Requirements as per contract/client:



  • Candidates must meet requirements to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance (active IRS Moderate Risk MBI clearance is a plus).

  • Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years, and be Federal Tax compliant.
