Group Leader: Extractables & Leachables







Employee Responsibilities:






  • Lead team (including other Group Leaders), schedule, and train employees




  • Ensure adherence to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations




  • Ensure coverage and performance




  • Foster morale and teamwork




  • Perform physical, chemical, and instrumental analysis of active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished pharmaceutical products (tablets, capsules, parenterals, devices, aerosols, liquids, creams, and gels)




  • Prepare standards and samples for analysis




  • Run the instrumentation independently including, but not limited to, various chromatographic systems, Karl Fischer (Coulometric and Volumetric), UV/Spec, various wet chemistry analyses, HPLC, IC, IR, ICP, AA, TGP, DSC, PDA, auto-titrators, TLC, and dissolution apparatus




  • Perform monthly maintenance of laboratory equipment




  • Working efficiently, document work clearly, and perform tests accurately




  • Execute specialized analyses




  • Conduct routine/nonroutine testing




  • Lead project/test areas




  • Write reports (method transfers, method validations, laboratory investigations, and SOPs)




  • Initiate and perform laboratory investigations




  • Evaluate and trend sample data




  • Serve as system administrator




  • Execute method transfer and feasibility testing




  • Support system validation efforts




  • Train new analysts




  • Ensure that the client receives quality data by reviewing laboratory data for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to GMP and/or GLP regulations




The Ideal Candidate would possess:






  • Strong leadership, initiative, and team building skills



  • Experience operating either LC/MS, GC/MS, ICP-OES, and/or ICP/MS systems

  • Experience with GMP

  • Experience performing extractables and leachables studies

  • Polymeric experience/education

  • Experience developing and validating analytical methods under GMP compliance


  • Strong project and personnel management skills



  • Strong understanding of the importance of achieving turn around time committed to clients


  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills




  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail




  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude




  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies




Minimum Qualifications:






  • BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry or related degree field




  • At least 3 years of related work experience




  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction
