Job Description:
FARM WORKER
Industry Title: Support Activities for Crop Production
A Blueberry farm in Mission is currently hiring 4 General Farm Workers (NOC: 8431) for its farm located at 10979 Farms Road, Mission, BC V2V4J1
Positions Available: 4
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date of Employment (Approx.): As soon as possible
Wage Rate: $13.85 / Hour ( 40 hours / week.)
Benefits: 2 weeks Paid vacation after completing 1 year.
Skill Requirements: Knowledge of farm atmosphere
Education: None
Experience: None
Language: No Specific language requirement
Duties:
Field work, Soil Preparation, ploughing, pruning, planting, weeding, cultivating, harvesting crops.
Washing, sorting, packing of the field crops.
Examining produce for quality and preparing for market
Loading produce into trucks etc.
To monitor irrigation & the soil moisture as per crop requirements.
Using fertilizers as per the requirement of the crop.
Detecting disease and other problems in crops.
Protecting crops from weeds & pests by taking appropriate actions like spraying Pesticides etc.
Maintaining farm machinery & equipment.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling.
Work Site Environment: Year-round work, Outdoors, wet/damp/rain/hot/cold.
Essential Requirements:
• Ability to lift 50 lbs of weight and work in all weathers and weekends.
• no specific education or training requirements
• Basic farm knowledge, familiarity with farm equipment and machinery will be an asset.
Other Information:
The candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
