Job Description:

We are looking for someone with a passion for insight-driven innovation and an understanding of the data lifecycle that is excited to change lives by building a foundation and delivering customer innovation with leading tools, technologies and approaches. Must have 10 years of hands-on working experience with SQL as well as ETL and large datasets, preferably with experience working in Snowflake. At least 3-5 years experience in BI reporting designs and solutions. Proven ability and interest in delivering across the data ecosystem. This role will have responsibility across a portion of the ecosystem including data generation, governance, standardization, report generation and delivery, with emphasis on the data components. This role is designed for a forward thinking, creative problem solving data technologist who is passionate about bringing data into the hands of users.



The Database Engineer is responsible for working closely with Product Management and Engineers to discover and create valuable and reliable data solutions. As a Database Engineer, you will be expected to:



  • Anticipate technical issues at the product level and make architectural and design decisions to avoid them.

  • Be recognized as a prolific contributor to core and side projects.

  • Collaborate well with multiple functions and welcome cross-functional problem solving.

  • Contribute to shaping broad architecture, shipping skinny slices of value all the way to the customer and developing major pieces of infrastructure.

  • Multiply the effectiveness of others by facilitating cross-team work.

  • Make an obvious and positive impact on the entire company's technical trajectory.

  • Set short to medium-term strategic technical direction; able to look ahead 6-12 months and identify the areas of greatest need and create plans to improve them.

  • Own of and be an expert on large sections of our codebase

  • Demonstrate a record of creating sweeping improvements in stability, performance, reliability and scalability across major business-critical systems.



KEY TECHNICAL DUTIES OF THIS ROLE:



  • Schema design

  • Oversight and building of data objects, dimensions and metrics

  • User & security management

  • Source Code control best practice management

  • Database and table creation

  • Cost monitoring

  • Engagement with and accountability of application source data

  • Ability to understand the causal relationship between application event to data generation to user reporting

  • Report Creation and enablement of self-service reporting capabilities




Minimum Education



  • 4 year college degree in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics or similar (Masters preferred) or comparable demonstrable success through technological deliverables.
