Job Description:

Position/Title: Senior IT Project Manager

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for planning and implementation of strategic initiatives, system enhancements, integration and conversion projects within National. Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, deliverables, project plans, tasks and resource requirements. Work closely with technology team, operations, technology departments, vendors, other departments and other business resources to document and implement solutions that are effective, informative and support the end users. Provide leadership and mentoring to Project Management team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate project management activities for large size projects

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Project Coordinators and Project Managers

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by assessing effectiveness of current processes, programs and systems to recognize opportunities for standardization, increased efficiency, cost reduction, increased quality and improved project experience

  • Develop and implement project management standards

  • Ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

  • Develop project scope, formulate strategies and objectives, form and manage project team and ensure project feasibility

  • Monitor project performance, which includes the use of verification techniques, communication mechanisms and tracking techniques to manage changes

  • Engage with the business and technical teams to identify potential solutions and provide recommendations and thought leadership

  • Maintain project plans, project schedules, work hours, budgets and expenditures

  • Coordinate and organize stakeholder and project meetings

  • Chair and facilitate meetings where appropriate and distribute minutes to project team members

  • Document and follow-up on important actions and decisions from meetings

  • Prepare necessary presentation materials for meetings

  • Perform risk management

  • Partner closely with teams to execute solutions and act as a liaison between the customer community and business owners

  • Provide timely and regular updates as required to stakeholders and senior management

  • Provide accurate, detailed, and meaningful statistics

  • Report and escalate issues to management

  • Ensure projects adhere to SDLC framework and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project


Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience

  • 5+ years of experience supporting the Project Management of projects in a technical development environment and process oriented business experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate licensing and/or professional designations (i.e. PMP Certifications or other formal project management education)

  • Proven leadership skills

  • Working knowledge of development and testing methodologies

  • Proven abilities working in Agile, Scrum and Waterfall development environments

  • Attention to detail with the ability to understand how a process fits into the overall business model

  • Ability to understand technical functionality and documentation and produce non-technical documentation

  • Deliver high-quality work, characterized by exactness and completeness

  • Ability to identify potential problems and escalate

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills with a disciplined mindset

  • Ability to influence others and negotiate effectively

  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, ability to support multiple projects with competing priority

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to complete assignments with independent thought and action within the scope of assignments

  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines

  • Ability to produce well written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper construction, punctuation and grammar

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at varying levels within the organization

  • Possess conflict-management skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)

  • Available for occasional short-term business travel

  • Able to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate

  • Ability to follow all company and department policies and procedures
