Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation. Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawai‘i (UH), Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI), located at the Mānoa Innovation Center (MIC) in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MONTHLY SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications.

DUTIES: Reviews, analyzes, and provides oversight for the OVPRI fiscal and administrative staff for administrative, fiscal, and personnel related documents and transactions (e.g., bid process, requisitions, purchase orders, travel requests, inventory, and supply management) for extramural rewards. Monitors progress and provides guidance and recommendations in completion of documents. Analyzes internal processes, recommends, and implements procedural or policy changes to improve operations. Manages extramural funds and awards. Oversees the safety and maintenance of the MIC and ensures that the property complies with all applicable regulations. Works with the Property Management Company for the day-to-day operations of the building. Supervises the maintenance, repair, janitorial and landscape of the building. Works closely with the Property Manager to negotiate contracts with vendors and to ensure that work is being properly addressed and completed. Responsible for all stages of the decision-making process relating to the building maintenance and safety. Regularly inspects property to ensure it is in good working order, and quickly resolves emergency maintenance issues. Recommends policies and procedures for building maintenance and safety. Addresses tenant concerns, and stays abreast of building requirements. Recommends and coordinates improvements to the property as needed to ensure a safe and functional space for the building occupants and visitors. Reviews monthly Property Management reports and recommends any action to the VPRI. Approves Property Management invoices and recommends payment or corrective action. Will require in and out-of-state travel.

Job Requirements:
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Business or Liberal Arts discipline (At least four (4) years of related experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree). EXPERIENCE: At least three (3) years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Knowledge of property/building management. Knowledge of program management techniques. Familiar with applicable local, State, and Federal laws and regulations. Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of Government. Ability to exercise seasoned judgment in appraising difficult situations and in making appropriate decisions. Ability to identify and develop plans to secure alternative funding and revenue sources. Ability to lead and train staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments, and employee development. Possesses skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Ability to develop and deliver presentations. High level of organization and attention to detail. Proficient with office management software.
