Job Description:
As a part of the Bureau of Land and Water Resources, this position will implement the components of the Farmland Preservation Program, assuming high levels of responsibility for program activities such as certification of farmland preservation plans and ordinances, designation of agricultural enterprise areas, processing of farmland preservation agreements and implementation of conservation compliance. This position may also assist in other programs related to the local regulation of land use.

Wisconsin's Farmland Preservation Program helps farmers and local governments preserve farmland, protect soil and water and minimize land use conflicts. Through participation in the program:
•Counties develop farmland preservation plans
•Local governments can develop farmland preservation zoning districts
•Landowners and local governments together form Agricultural Enterprise Areas
•Landowners meet soil and water conservation standards to become eligible to claim an income tax

Job Requirements:
A minimally qualified applicant will have:

•Experience related to the implementation of land use planning, zoning or conservation programs

•Experience researching and implementing policies, laws and/or governmental or non-profit programs

•Training and/or experience administering outreach

A well qualified applicant will have:
•Training and/or experience working with a rural land use planning, farmland preservation or similar compliance program

•Training and/or experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or similar
