Job Description:

  • The 96th Test Wing is the test and evaluation center for Air Force air-delivered weapons, navigation and guidance systems, Command and Control systems, and Air Force Special Operations Command systems.

  • The 53rd Wing is the focal point for the combat air forces in electronic warfare and is responsible for operational test and evaluation (OT&E) of advanced equipment and systems.


Both Wings are headquartered at Eglin AFB, FL, adjacent to the white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters of Northwest Florida's Emerald Coast.




We are seeking qualified Systems Administrators, to support the 53rd Wing Technical Support Services contract, to provide the Air Force support services in the areas of network, security and test & evaluation.


The individual will be working in a fast-paced, highly-technical, and award winning area that requires a strong work ethic with a well-rounded server, networking, information assurance (IA) and client systems background. The successful candidate will identify, prioritize, and resolve reported customer issues and problems.


On a daily basis the successful candidate will serve as the expert for determining hardware, software and systems specification and execution of the patching, fixing, and making all systems compliant under his/her direct control. The successful applicant will a have experience planning, installing, configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Hyper V, Server 2008 R2, Server 2012 R2 and client products across multiple networks as well as strong networking background to include addressing and port and protocol knowledge. The successful candidate will provide support to users in the areas of account management, enterprise applications, desktop applications, and peripherals. Position may be assigned to Shift 1 or Shift 2. Shift hours, inclusive of at least 1/2 hour break, are generally 0600-1430 for Shift 1 and 1330-2200 for Shift 2.





Education


AS degree in information systems or computer science and four (4) to seven (7) years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications.


Required




  • Active/valid TS/SCI (i.e. DCID 6/4 eligibility) with an investigation close date no older than 5.5 years at the time of application.




  • Must be willing to submit to a CI polygraph.




  • A valid/current DoD 8570.01-M IAT-I certification (A+ CE, Network+ CE, CCNA Security, etc. or higher level IA certification.




  • Microsoft Server 2012/2012 R2 Experience




    • Design, deploy, and maintain Windows 2012/2012R2 systems, AD, DHCP, DNS, NTP, CA, Active Directory, GPO, and other core infrastructure components in an enterprise environment

    • trong knowledge of supporting MS tools (WSUS, SCDPM, SCOM).


  • Microsoft Server Virtualization


    • Experience Deploying and Maintaining Hyper-V servers and guests

    • Experience Deploying and Maintaining Microsoft Failover Clustering

    • Experience Deploying and using System Center Virtualization Manager to manage multiple Hyper-V host clusters


  • Experience working with SVMs (Storage Virtual Machines), LIFS (Logical Interfaces), RAID DP, Aggregates, and Volumes


    • Configure and implement CIFS/SMB3 and NFS protocols Scripting and/or programming (Power Shell, VB Script or other)

    • Identify and implement automation opportunities to eliminate repetitive tasks


  • Must be willing to work 2nd shift.

  • Good Understanding of basic networking (Routing/Switching/VLANS/Firewalls)

  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors during development/troubleshooting

Essential Functions

Work Environment


Office setting that includes sedentary physical effort. However, may include lifting of weight up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary. Individual must be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions. Periodic/occasional travel may be required to include both continental US and/or overseas locations.



Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing, and reading from a computer screen. Individual must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required.


Equipment and Machines


Ability to operate office equipment such as personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work related tools as required.



Attendance


Typical work hours are Monday-Friday 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Regular attendance during scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, with the exceptions of deadlines and meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Employee may be required to adjust work hours due to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.



Other Essential Functions

Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to work site is required.
