Job Description:

The Director of Interiors is a specialized manager role involved in the overall operations of the Studio. Working with the Principals and other leadership, the Director of Interiors is going to be extremely vital in establishing the direction, policy and leadership of the Studio. The Director of Interiors monitors and schedules the workload and personnel of the group, as well as is responsible for the overall quality control of the work produced by the group. More than anything, this firm is looking to diversify their portfolio of offerings into one of four sectors; healthcare, mixed/multi-use, grocery stores, or big-box retail. The Director of interiors is active in business development, whch will make up baout 50% of the workload, as well as getting directly into the design and overseeing/training the design staff.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Registered Interior Designer/Architect

  • Previous successful Project Management experience. 10+ years

  • Ability to successfully motivate and lead teams.

  • Strong design skills.

  • Strong documentation, budget and client management skills.

  • Extensive experience in healthcare, big-box retail, grocery stores, or mixed/multi-use


RESPONSIBILITIES


Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:


Adhere to both company and the Clients' guidelines and meet deadlines within budget for each project. Maintain knowledge of projects and resources.


Serves as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets, and scope of work to completion and to the client's satisfaction.


Actively manage client budgets, schedules and programs; project communications and documentation; office administrative tasks; and project team assignments.


Actively participate at the appropriate level in developing and administering Owner and Consultant agreements.


Participate in proposal/marketing efforts and presentations.


Assist in development of the Firm's design standards.


Maintain base state registration, and professional affiliations.


Negotiate Consultant contracts as required.


Promote a collaborative team atmosphere.


Contribute as required to the overall quality and success of the project, studio and firm.


Actively participate in professional development and performance management of Staff.


Report to Top leadership/principal on project progress and quality or potential problems impacting the project profitability.


Work across all studios with the Principals-in-Charge determine the Interior Design needs of the Firm.


Develop quality assurance policy and procedures for design, documentation and project management.


Develop and institute documentation and project management standards that are consistent or enhance the standards of the Firm.


Work with firm leadership to establish the direction, policy and leadership of the Interior Design Group.


Respond to and encourage staff professional development goals.


Actively engages in business development.


Participate in a post occupancy review with the Client.


Review overall Interior Design Studio Client and Consultant billings in accordance with accounting's monthly schedule, in a timely manner.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


May directly supervise Designers, Interior Designers, Project Interior Designers and PM's by training, leading, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; and aiding in problem resolution. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and


applicable laws.
