About This Position

The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine's Office of the Executive Dean for Research has an exciting career opportunity for a Project Manager with experience managing clinical research related projects. Reporting to the Director of Business Operations and Finance, the Project Manager will help establish, promote, and implement medical school research and education initiatives including business strategy, resources planning, reporting, and policy. The Project Manager will support the strategic themes, including but not limited to, the management of institutional and strategic reserves, forecasting methodologies and market analysis. This position will support medical school-wide strategies and programs to assist in promoting research through partnerships and developing salable and sustainable activity that maximizes institutional entrepreneurial learning and impact.

The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:



  • Manages specific projects including major recruitment packages, business strategy, resources, reporting, and policy.

  • Conducts market assessment and feasibility analyses, and develops business plans for new University initiatives that leverage core department assets into new business models.

  • Develops ideas formulated by the Senior Leadership of the University, including market assessments, using primary and secondary sources, into viable project strategic plans.

  • Develops financial models to assess value of proposition.

  • Develops complete business plans, collaboratively or alone.

  • For opportunities that are pursued, oversees the progress of the plan and preparation initiatives for launch.

  • Works with University Counsel to address key legal and business issues.

  • Serves as a liaison between all parties involved, managing activities and communications in order to further the consideration and initiation of opportunities.

  • Ensures required project information is regularly communicated to University leadership and appropriate outside parties.

  • Initiates, establishes, and maintains business relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization (collaborators, sponsors, and business partners).

  • In collaboration with the Director, work with Leadership to review and improve business processes.




Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Health Care, Business, Finance or related field or three years of experience in an academic research institution. Experience should include managing clinical research projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate well with others. Strong computer skills with high proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to run multiple projects efficiently and simultaneously. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Demonstrated analytical, financial, management and conceptual skills. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
