Helen of Troy is hiring a Human Resources Manager for our Health & Home office in Marlborough, MA.


What contribution will I make to Helen of Troy?

The HR Manager leverages their background in the areas of Employee Relations (ER), training, HRIS, recruiting, and the employee lifecycle to support all employees and managers as a service-oriented HR representative. The HR Manager provides coaching, training and counseling to managers on employee issues, and is responsible for the successful rollout of and follow-through on all HR programs, processes, policy changes, and lifecycle events. The HR Manager partners with Corporate HR and site leadership to enhance the Helen of Troy brand. 

What will I be doing?

  • Provide first level response, consultation and successful resolution of employee relations questions and inquiries, while maintaining an efficient and continuous workflow process and delivering consistent, superior customer service to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction. Keep divisional HR lead abreast of areas of risk and escalate issues to division HR lead to discuss resolution solutions and recommendations.
  • Provide consistent guidance and direction to managers in the handling of various employee matters, including promotion and performance discussions, progressive disciplinary recommendations, associated documentation, and preparation for employee conversations.
  • Conduct independent investigations regarding employee relations issues. Give recommendations to Divisional HR Leadership on discipline of employees to include PIPs, coaching, and separation of employment.
  • Enforce zero tolerance policy for discriminatory, inappropriate, harassing, or other types of hostile behavior.
  • Interpret policies to facilitate a common understanding and consistent application throughout the organization.
  • New Employee Onboarding: responsible for ensuring all new employees are properly brought on board.
  • Manage the process and complete tasks relating to employee terminations.
  • Responsible for driving Helen of Troy Performance Management cycle activities (annual reviews, goal setting, compensation/merit) under the direction of Divisional HR lead.
  • Partner with managers and employees as a knowledgeable coach and resource. Guide and drive actions, escalating and teaching as needed to ensure processes are followed reasonably and consistently.
  • Identify areas where further clarification may be needed and distribute supplemental communications as such.
  • Support strategic plan for long- and short-term employee and leadership development through the successful coordination, communication, and rollout of related activities as assigned under guidance of divisional or corporate HR management.
  • Continually examine internal processes for ways to streamline and improve efficiency and enhance service to employees to better support business.
  • Work with Corporate recruiter to ensure HELEN OF TROY recruitment activities for all roles as assigned, including identifying, interviewing and presenting candidates to management. Partner with hiring managers to guide the process and ensure all activities associated with candidate interview and selection are completed in accordance with internal recruiting process.
  • Responsible for compliance with human resources related company policies as well as all applicable federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Stay abreast of changes to MA employment law and communicate upcoming areas of potential impact to divisional HR leadership and other HR contacts as appropriate to ensure internal recruitment processes stay up-to-date and compliant in areas of recruitment and otherwise.
  • Identify training needs through partnerships with management and feedback gleaned through exit interviews and employee relations issue discovery, and then partner with Corporate Training Manager and divisional HR lead to: Conduct on-line and/or instructor led training for employees and managers on various topics. May act as a facilitator for training sessions which include multiple presenters.
  • Helen of Troy culture – Living the Brand. Partner with Helen of Troy Leadership and Divisional HR to execute on multi-year strategy to enhance Helen of Troy culture through regular communications, business updates, events, activities, programs, and ways to better align all employees with the Health & Home OGSM, and live and understand the Helen of Troy Brand.
  • Helen of Troy culture champion. Actively work to ensure the Helen of Troy organization has necessary tools to feel connected to parent company and the associated values, culture, OGSM, awards programs, cross functional teams, and intercompany relations.
  • Although not necessarily the Wellness Champion, ultimately responsible to make sure Helen of Troy has a Wellness Champion representative and actively completes HOTfit program deliverables.
  • Contribute to the success of Helen of Troy by assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Remove obstacles and barriers, ensuring the department achieves key goals and milestones.

What are the requirements for consideration?

  • Bachelor’s Degree or other 4-year Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in an HR position.
  • 3+ years’ of HR Generalist experience preferable.
  • PHR or SMRM-CP designation, or an additional one-year experience preferable.
  • Direct experience in generally all areas of Human Resources: Recruiting, Training, Development, Performance Management, On-Boarding, Comp & Benefits, HRIS and Employee Relations.
  • Demonstrated high-level of confidentiality, discernment, attention to detail, and diplomacy. Ability to effectively communicate, handle ambiguity, problem solve, and make a positive impact to the business through successful execution of all areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State labor laws.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
