Job Description:
The Site Safety Representative shall be responsible for the administration of the Site Specific Safety & Health Plan. The Site Safety Representative shall report directly to the Corporate Director of EH&S and the Project Manager or Project Supervisor. A Site Safety Representative shall be onsite during each shift of work.
Specific Responsibilities of the Site Safety Rep. include the following:1. Administer the Site Specific Safety & Health Plan at the field level in coordination with the site Project Management, keeping the Corp. Director of EH&S fully informed on any issues and seeking guidance and input from the Corporate Director of EH&S as required.2. Conduct safety “tool box” meetings on weekly basis, documenting attendees and topics discussed. Toolbox meetings should discuss events on the jobsite or pertaining to the jobsite and the work being performed.3. Ensure the following are posted at a Project Site visible to all personnel:
a. Emergency procedures b. Emergency phone numbers
c. Job safety and health poster d. Notice of Workers’ Comp Compliance.
e. OSHA 300 Summary (during February each year)
4. Make ongoing shift safety inspections of the Project Site(s) and public areas, and take necessary and timely corrective action(s) to eliminate unsafe acts and/ conditions. Record observations as directed using the Inspection Check List from the O’Connor/Beacon Safety Manual.5. Together with the Project Manager/Site Supervisor, ensure that all employees, including employees of all subcontractor tiers, vendors and service providers, comply with Project Site safety rules and regulations, and ensure that the subcontractor’s reports are completed according to the rules and regulations stated in the Safety & Health Plan and according to the requirements of the applicable regulatory agencies.
6. The Site Safety Representative has the authority and responsibility to immediately correct unsafe conditions and unsafe practices, including suspending work until the unsafe condition or practice is corrected and meets all safety requirements. 7. During any period when the work involves marine/water-based operations, the Site Safety Representative has the following additional responsibilities:
a. Provide for control, availability and use of safety equipment,
including employee personal protective equipment.
b. Adhere to the Owner’s Safety Orientation Requirements and
site specific safety plan.
8. Together with Project Manager/Site Supervisor, investigate all incidents under his/her direct control to determine facts necessary for corrective action to prevent recurrence.9. Adhere to the Owner’s Safety Orientation Requirements.
10. Together with the Project Manager/Site Supervisor, ensure that newly employed personnel, or personnel transferred from another jobsite are instructed in the Site Specific Safety & Health Plan, and in the safety requirements and practices of the Owner or General Contractor. 11. Together with the Project Manager/Site Supervisor, ensure that all work is done in compliance with Section 9.5 of the Company Safety Manual titled “Fire Prevention / Fire Protection”. 12. Together with the Primary Safety Rep, ensure that all work is done in compliance with Section 9.0 of the O’Connor/Beacon Safety Manual titled “Personal Protective Equipment”.
13. Ensure that first aid kits are in place and restocked in accordance with Section 3.0 of the Company Safety Manual titled “First Aid and Medical Services”. 14. Together with the Project Manager/Site Supervisor, evaluate all operations and materials to determine the presence or potential presence of hazardous environments. 15. Together with the Project Manager/Site Supervisor, ensure that operations and materials involving potential exposure to hazardous substances, agents or environments are evaluated by a Certified Industrial Hygienist. 16. Identify all substances, agents and environments that present a hazard and recommend actions for their control. 17. The Site Safety Rep shall be trained in testing and monitoring procedures and hazards. He/she shall use, inspect and maintain testing devices in accordance with the instructions. 18. When any hazardous substance is procured, used, stored or disposed of, ensure that safety data sheets for the substances are made readily available to all potentially exposed employees at each Project. Ensure that potentially exposed employees receive any needed training for safe use of the hazardous substance.
Training and Experience:High School diploma or GED with 4+years experience in a construction site safety role.
Technical Knowledge:This person shall have the ability to: communicate with all levels of employee base either in written or oral form; process workload efficiently;take direction and respond with the correct information consistently,
ability to think on their feet, react to situations in everchanging environments, ability to improvise in adverse conditions.


Job Requirements:
Ability to think outside of the box, ability to overcome jobsite situations and adapt. Can carry and lift up to fifty pounds. Can work at heights, in confined spaces, can work in hot/cold environments, has capability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays and necessary. Has the ability to work with others. proficient with Microsoft office, capable of writing reports and following directions both verbal and written, has a valid MA drivers license, can pass a substance abuse test,
