Job Description:

The Senior Development Strategist provides leadership for Ipas's efforts to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors in support of Ipas's mission and the priorities of the strategic plan. This includes working with Ipas staff at all levels to build the capacity to pursue and respond to funding opportunities. This position provides indirect supervision and/or coaching to Development Strategists or Associates; assists the Development Director, Associate Director, and Senior Manager with unit planning, workload management, and staff meeting agendas and facilitation; and participates on the organization-wide committees or task forces, as assigned. The Senior Development Strategist manages complex donor proposals, reports, and question and answer processes, including drafting, editing, and submitting documents directly to donors. Additionally, the Senior Development Strategist uses his/her strong project management skills and independently manages projects with organization-wide impact to further Ipas's mission.

Provides leadership, expertise, and coaching by working collaboratively with Ipas country program, high-level leadership, programmatic units to: o create and implement fundraising strategies and donor and prospect cultivation plans

o negotiate funding partnership relationships for large, competitive proposal processes

o drive project design processes

o write letters of inquiry and proposals and other donor communications

o conduct donor briefings, calls, and visits

o respond to RFPs and bids

 Communicates with donors and outside organizations

 Serves as final reviewer for proposals, reports, and other correspondence as assigned

 Facilitates project design efforts for project teams at headquarters and/or country-based offices

 Manages the process of proposal preparation, review, and submission

 Edits proposals and other donor documents for clarity and accuracy, readability, and professional presentation - presenting them as donor-ready to final reviewer or submitting them directly to the donor

 Fosters and contributes to a team approach within the unit and with other staff

 Ensures that information related to donor proposals, contacts, and processes are well-documented and accessible to others within the Development Unit and organization as a whole, using various tools and databases according to Ipas Development guidelines.

 Represents the Development Unit on various internal Ipas working groups, committees, or forums, as assigned

 Coaches early-career and new Development staff, as well as those taking on new responsibilities, as assigned, using strategic problem-solving skills to support their work

 Performs other duties as assigned


 Bachelor's degree with 9-10 years of relevant experience

 7-8 years of experience in grant-writing in an international NGO context; including editing and writing donor documents and managing document preparation processes

 Project Management experience

 Ability to travel 10%

 Working knowledge of MS Office Suite


 Master's Degree in relevant field

 Experience working in a non-profit organization

 Experience working in fundraising

 International experience

 Spanish or French language skills

 Working knowledge of donor databases
