System Administrator - Direct Hire

Key Responsibilities

  • Windows Server knowledge required to manage and maintain server applications

  • Active directory - user accounts

  • Group Policy - security policies

  • DHCP & DNS - IP address management

  • IIS - web servers, including application pools

  • Bitlocker Encryption

  • For their internal network they run Meraki switches in house. Having certification in Cisco CCNA is strongly advised. Good working knowledge of general networking and security principles. Remote offices are all supplied with WatchGuard branch office firewalls.

  • Meraki Switches, Wireless Access Controller, Network Access Controller on site

  • Microsoft SQL Administration - Installation/configuration/backup/log shipping/fault finding of SQL databases [2008-2016]

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL server failover clusters would be an advantageous

  • Desktop Support - Hardware and Software (40%)

  • Desktop Microsoft Windows Support, deployment and upgrades, knowledge of Windows Deployment Services would be advantageous

  • Hardware support - Desktop, laptops, servers, mobile devices, projectors, wall boards

  • Phones: AVAYA IP Office. You will need to have a thorough working knowledge of this system and will be expected to be able to contribute to design plans and subsequently implement them. Training can be provided; previous PBX experience would be beneficial. We also use third party reporting applications namely Chronicall & Tri-Line TIM PLUS. Working knowledge of these would be advantageous.

  • Email support

  • Whilst email is provided and supported by a 3rd party a strong working knowledge of Microsoft exchange administration is required

  • Troubleshooting SPAM failures on SonicWALL HES

  • CRM Microsoft Dynamics

  • Previous experience of a network running MS Dynamics would be an advantage

  • Day to day task may be restarting some background CRM services if issues arise.

  • Corporate anti-virus software

  • SET Antivirus[AV] - Only troubleshooting of local desktop issues is required.

  • Security Pass Administration

  • PowerShell experience in automating tasks would be strongly advantageous and a requirement for future growth.


While this role will be focused on Austin Office IT Support (75%), there is growth in the position to help monitor, trouble shoot, and fix issues arising in the suite SaaS platform. This is where we see the growth in the role from an IT Office Administrator to a full blown SaaS infrastructure role over time. This would start with basic monitoring, trouble shooting, resolving common issues. And then proceed to understanding complex micro services environment with a combination of Firewalls, Load Balancers, Clustered Windows Servers, SQL Servers, Linux boxes. You would learn VMWare, VLANs, F5/HAProxy load balancers and specific technologies: RabbitMQ, ElasticSearch, Redis. In conjunction with learning how to troubleshoot bespoke software. This requires you as a candidate to show you can make the leap from searching on Stack Exchange for a generic issue and applying those findings to our software. This is different than just troubleshooting MS Exchange issues. You will need to apply knowledge about networks, TCP/IP connections, Disk IO, all the way to calling bespoke API with PowerShell.
