Project Manager Erosion Control / Shoreline Management

Job Summary: Responsibility for the management of the Erosion Control / Shoreline Management projects, staff, and subcontractors. Responsibilities include significant annual contract value growth, achieving profits, and continuing development of staff for future advancement.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


Assist and guide sales personnel in all aspects of the Erosion Control / Shoreline Management business in order to achieve corporate growth goals relating to the Erosion Control / Shoreline Management projects.


  • Hire, manage, train, and develop service personnel required to service projects and produce excellent in field results and grow and expand into future management positions.

  • Schedule and monitor field staff or subcontractors, coordinating their work with project requirements, to provide the necessary company resources needed for a successful, timely, and profitable completion.

  • Inspection and supervision of field crews at their work sites and direct contact with subcontractors and customer representatives will be necessary for job completion.

  • Large, complex, and multidiscipline projects will require you to have constant communication with work crews, subcontractors, and our customer to keep the projects on track and yet be flexible in accommodating customer change orders and add-on work.

  • Establish and maintain solid relationship with all subcontractors, suppliers, and company personnel.

  • This includes procuring all necessary insurance certificates and written price lists and forwarding to required personnel.

Customer Service:

  • Be a customer advocate!

  • Develop a service and sales organization capable of delivering quality services and results to the customer, and one that puts the customer first while developing long-term mutually beneficial customer relationships.


  • Safety is a major concern of the company and it is your responsibility to have all field personnel follow safety policy while at work.

  • Field employees are required to read and obey all safety procedures and follow all SDS and label directions on the products they use.

  • They are also required to maintain and re-supply their safety equipment from the Company Safety Equipment Inventory and to wear safety equipment as required by safety procedures, the product label, and SDS.


  • Direct contact with customers and prospective customers occurs on a daily basis.

  • Therefore, above average verbal skills and excellent customer relations knowledge is necessary.

  • Interface with all environmental agency personnel (Water Management District, A.C.O.E., D.E.P., E.P.A., State, county, etc.) to ensure all field operations (proposed and current) meet all compliance and completion requirements.

  • Strict adherence to the company's Employee Dress Code is required as part of our effort to maintain stellar customer relations.


Required: Associates Degree

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree


Work experience to include at least 5 years of field experience in lake & wetland management, 5 years of experience supervising and training staff, 5 years of experience in project management, site development, heavy equipment operation, and bid estimation.

Special Skills:

  • Problem solving, trouble shooting, negotiating, communication and customer relation skills are most important as this position often requires the employee to work closely with subcontractors and customers.

  • Good judgment and high safety standards awareness are vital attributes of a quality employee because of the high degree of regional travel and equipment operation.

  • Good swimming ability and basic knowledge of outdoor environments is required.

  • Possess above average command of English language, both verbal and written.

Physical Requirements:

  • Field work requires frequent lifting and carrying of heavy objects and other tools and objects that may weigh 50 lb. or more.

  • Frequent bending, crouching, pulling, pushing, and balancing are physical requirements of employee's work.

  • Walking along steep, uneven canal, lake banks, and wetlands with equipment is often necessary.

  • Field work requires employee to function in 90 plus weather with high humidity wearing long pants, long sleeve shirt, boots, gloves, and other safety equipment as required by SDS.

  • Alligators, poisonous snakes and other dangerous wildlife are occasionally encountered on the job.

  • Wearing hip waders and working in shallow water and muck is frequently required.

  • Must swim well.
