Job Description:
The Lead Benefits Specialist will report to and partner with the Total Rewards Director to design, implement, and administer competitive recognition, benefits and wellness programs (including medical, dental, vision, disability, 401k, etc.), ensure reporting/legal compliance, evaluate the effectiveness of existing plans, recommend improvements and manage efforts. This position will oversee a benefits team. Serve as an advisor providing high-level guidance to employees, managers and other HR staff to resolve any benefits areas.

Primary Responsibilities
• Partners with Total Rewards Director to develop competitive benefits and wellness programs and a market differentiating total rewards strategy.
• Develops meaningful reporting statistics and census data for management and provides analysis/recommendations/conclusions based on findings to ensure alignment between the benefits/wellness programs and business outcomes.
• Ensures legal compliance and reporting on all regulatory matters required by federal and state laws. Shares information with business partners and coordinates/ensures changes with vendors, as required and approved.
• Ensures compliance with organizational policies, reporting and government regulations, such as COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, Section 125, ACA, and other local, state and federal regulations related to benefits.
• Assumes primary responsibility for the efficient operation, funding, reporting and communications related to retirement programs (i.e., 401(k) benefit, deferred compensation).
• Leads and develops the communication and implementation of the annual open enrollment process working closely with team members.
• Oversees the documentation of benefits policies, processes and procedures. Audits processes and procedures to ensure compliance, accuracy, efficiency and cost control.
• Works with HR business partners, local insurers and/or international broker/consultant to develop and administer the global benefits function, including plan design, bench marking, and managing plan renewals.
• Manages and/or participates in ad-hoc and annual benefits projects such as system upgrades, benefits surveys, implementation of new benefit programs and audits.
• Responsible for timely payment of invoices.
• Partners with benefits broker to monitor benefits usage, stay current on legislation governing benefits, and make recommendations on changes to benefits that move the firm's benefits programs in the desired direction.
• Evaluates wellness and recognition programs for effectiveness, identifies improvements to existing programs and recommends new programs.
• Develops and delivers an ongoing enterprise wide benefits communication strategy.
• Provides guidance and assistance on benefit related matters as requested by employees, the Benefits Team, managers and HR Business Partners.
• Interfaces with vendors in the implementation, administration, and communication of benefit and wellness programs, including vendor contract and agreement review and data transmission.
• Leads, develops and mentors staff to drive engagement and recognition.

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Accounting or related field required.
• Minimum of 7 years related benefits administration experience required.
• Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA and other IRS/DOL regulations related to employer–sponsored benefit plans.
• Strong command of Excel.
• Experience with Human Resources Information system.
