The Survey Technician performs all aspects of surveying earth's surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, or other purposes by performing the duties listed below. Balzer & Associates typically performs surveying projects for residential, commercial and industrial clients in the community. The Survey Technician is on the licensing track to become a Land Surveyor.

Balzer & Associates is currently seeking a Survey Office technician for our Richmond office with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

The Survey Office technician will assist the Survey Crew Chief with all tasks used for construction, map making or other purposes using Robotic total station, GPS, level and other surveying instruments by incorporating the following:


Job Requirements:
•Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
•Visits sites to consider physical evidence.
•Must have experience in use of personal computers and various types of surveying/drafting software.
•Performs calculations on computer to establish property lines, physical locations, contour lines, and stakeouts.
•Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe work performed.
•Coordinates findings with work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with project.
•Assists in the care and maintenance of survey equipment.
