JOB OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Workforce Specialist/Career Coach
WAGE: $35,500 - $38,000 per year
LOCATION: Oregon City & IRCO Main (10301 NE Glisan St., Portland, OR 97220)

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
Clackamas Works! Program serves immigrants, refugees, and English language learners with job readiness
skills and career coaching. Program participants are residents of Clackamas County and are majority Spanishspeaking. As a partner of WorkSource, IRCO staff will have a presence at WorkSource Clackamas as well as
IRCO Main Office to provide one-on-one services to program participants. Job seekers are assisted in creating
an employment plan, job search, career advancement and/or training services to achieve long-term selfsufficiency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 Provide workforce case management to enrolled participants including but not limited to intakes,
assessments, Employment Plan development, job search and placement, work readiness, and skill
building activities to ensure successful path to self-sufficiency and achieving project outcome goals
 Develop materials to assist clients in job search, interviews and retaining employment
 Assist WorkSource Clackamas Staff with customer registration and Welcome Process
 Assist participants in entering vocational trainings in high-demand industries leading to career-track
employment
 Consult with employers regarding hiring concerns and develop strategies to retain clients in jobs
 Train and orient newly hired clients on behalf of the employer and provide on-site training specific to
employer’s general policies and procedures, benefits, safety policies, and other areas that will assist in
the retention of a client
 Provide clients with employment counseling as it relates to the retention of employment
 Share and coordinate employment opportunities resources with IRCO’s Workforce Development
Department
 Strengthen and build new relationships with Clackamas Area employers
 Utilize community resources to refer and engage participants in skill building activities
 Regularly communicate with DHS case managers and other agencies on participant’s activities, progress
and challenges
 Submit required project data, compose electronic case notes, and maintain files


Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
 Bachelor’ Degree, or prior experience working with immigrant and refugee populations that faces
multiples challenges to employment
 Bilingual English/Spanish
 Knowledge and/or experience of pre-employment and job readiness activities, vocational and
placement counseling
 Knowledge of the local job market and concerns of employers
 Experience, knowledge and the ability to work with immigrants and refugees from various cultural and
religious and social status backgrounds with limited English
 Must possess a valid driver's license and verification of current auto-insurance, and have full use of
automobile during work hours

15. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, committees, and volunteer activities to support IRCO’s goals
