Job Description:
The selected candidate will perform the following duties:

- Provides engineering support on projects initiated and/or managed in the field (ex: many blanket projects, tower light replacements, Asset Health/yard fiber)

- Coordinates changes/outages for what will be effected (except for NERC CIP)

- Serves as a liaison/resource to Business Units to provide engineering & support for Business Unit sponsored projects. (E.g. Distribution Automation, Transformer monitoring, NERC/CIP security, TDC & DDC, Maestro, IP phone configuration)

- Will do site visit (physical or virtual) to assist and verify project scopes determine needs for scope of Project

- Verifies all field requirements are met, all materials (not people resources) needed to do the job are available and resolve any issues prior to installation

- Assist with new equipment installation as needed, in Engineering Role

- Participates in identification of end-of-life replacements of site support equipment

- Technical liaison to facilitate Telecom Ops for new technology and equipment

- Assist with responsibilities such as installation, programming, configuration, and training on telecom

- To be part of upcoming trainings when training dates are provided

- Assists Telecom Engineering to determine the best test equipment for the project as needed

- Provides Quality Assurance (QA) for recently installed projects

- Assists Field Operations on major outages / repairs in the field as needed

- Technical liaison to aid Field Operations troubleshoot technology and equipment issues in the field (transport, wireless, SCADA, demarks, circuits, etc.)

- A resource to Transport Engineering, SCADA Engineering, Wireless/Grid SMART Engineering & Network Engineering to be their eyes & ears in the field for projects

- Collaborates with Telecom Engineering and other groups to create standards for test and production equipment to determine common equipment platforms across the company

- Ensures O&M and capital budget targets are met

- Participate in monthly project meetings with RPM, LC & Field Mangers and reports the status of projects

- Designs, develops, implements, maintains, and enhances telecommunication networks, systems and equipment

- Analyzes existing networks and equipment and identifies opportunities for improvement

- Develops solutions that meet business requirements. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures

- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

- Coordinate and monitor work activities, using approved applications and tools, for projects as required to perform routine engineering tasks

- Prepare cost estimates for the routine engineering assignments using established guidelines

- Perform documentation of project work using established guidelines


Job Requirements:
Required Skills and Experience:

- Bachelor degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science or telecommunications

- 4 Years of relevant experience with Bachelor Degree or 8 years relevant experience without one of the Bachelor Degrees listed above

- Valid Driver License Required

- Possesses intermediate level knowledge of communications technologies and inter-networking principles

- Demonstrate competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle assignments of moderate complexity. (e.g., by dividing the problem into component steps, and performing the analysis necessary to complete each step.)

- Exhibit understanding for pertinent telecom equipment, materials, systems and business processes

- Exhibit ability to understand interrelationships between systems and component equipment.

- Demonstrate ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes.

- Collaborate with others within the work group, department, or other corporate entity as necessary to complete routine activities

- Provide cross-training to other employees as assigned

- Initiate corrective action when project objectives are not being met.

- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrate the ability to extrapolate beyond known facts to reach logical conclusions

- Demonstrate an attitude and desire to listen to and satisfy both internal and external customers who use and depend upon their organizational unití

- Use initiative in looking for opportunities and presenting new ideas and new approaches

- Relate to people in an open, friendly and sincere manner

- Effectively lead and facilitate meetings.

- Travel required and varies depending on project workload. Could be as high as 75% of the time.

- Demonstrate knowledge of networks, components and facilities by enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems

- Follow the standard workflow for routine engineering projects
