About This Position

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology has an exciting opportunity for a Sponsored Programs Specialist to manage research grants/contracts. This position assists with pre- and post-award activities for an assigned portfolio of grants and contracts using knowledge of grant and contract management rules and regulations, technical expertise, and analytical skills. The Sponsored Programs Specialist handles the day-to-day operations and objectives in support of the assigned portfolio. Also, the Sponsored Programs Specialist contributes information and ideas related to area of responsibility in development of division/department/school-wide strategy and operational initiatives. Ensures effective and efficient work flow and adherence to quality standards for program and self.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or a closely related field of study. At least three years work experience with academic grants and contracts management. Professional certification in research administration is preferred. Possess a high level of interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a good command of the English language. Ability to analyze data and formulate conclusions. Ability to learn changing technologies related to grants and contracts management. Proficient in using a computer to include Microsoft Office Suite software, specifically Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to professionally interact with all levels within the organization. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. Ability to create verbal and written reports. Knowledge of federal rules and regulations relating to research grants and/or contract activity. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
