Apply data science skills to tracking missiles from space in support of the nation's defense. The Data Scientist for the Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture (MDSEA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract is responsible to develop Researchand Development (R&D) and operational requirements for the future of the Missile Defense Space Center.The MDSEA is a hybridarchitecture that will have cloud‐computing technology and non‐cloud components supporting the future generation of space systems for the Missile Defense Agency. The Data Scientist will collaborate with business units and end‐users to create compelling and accurate data presentations based on the entire Data Analytics and Reporting servicesuite. In addition, the Data Scientist will design and prototype data ingestion, cleaning, curation, storage and retrieval, concentrating specifically on analytics, statistical modeling, dissemination and presentation. The Data Scientist will work with developers and data analysts from the Data Analytics team to build and maintain end‐to‐end user capabilities and interfaces based on business functional and performance requirements. Must have strong interpersonal skills and writing ability commensurate with programming skills, mathematical skills and statistical background. Ability to work both independently and in a fast‐ paced team environment. Highly self‐motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. Creative problem‐solving abilities. Ability to work with minimal oversight. This position is located at Schriever AFB in Colorado Springs, CO. Relocation options may be available.
Basic Requirements: High School Diploma (or GED) and 20 years general experience; or an Associate's degree and 18 years general experience; or a Bachelor's degree and 16 years general experience; or a Master's degree and 14 years general experience with 14 years directly related experience in one or more of the following: Java, Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Elasticsearch, ELK Stack (or other Big Data) ecosystem, Cloudera, Kafka, Linux (Redhat), SQL, JSON, C++, Python,R, C#, Ruby, Agile methodologies, Adobe Certified Expert(ACE). Candidate must have and maintain an IAT Level II certification in accordance with DoD Instruction 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program (for example, Security+, CCNA Security, SSCP, etc). Must be a US citizen and have and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
Desired: Experience with cloud based system architectures and related tools. Experience with Cloudera, Kafka, Logstash, Redhat, SQL, JSON, C++, Python, R, C#, Ruby, Agile Methodologies, Adobe CertifiedExpert (ACE). Experience in large development initiatives, developing high volume database applications, data warehousing, complex shell scripting, Agile methodology and public or private cloud experience.
