About This Position

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an exciting career opportunity for a Research Laboratory Technician focused on HIV related research. The Research Laboratory Technician aids scientists in their experiments by monitoring and recording their findings. Moreover, the Research Laboratory Technician ensures laboratory compliance with applicable safety regulations.

The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:



  • Cleans, sanitizes, maintains, and operates laboratory equipment.

  • Keeps records of research data and assists in analyzing it.

  • Maintains inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and places orders in a timely fashion.

  • Proofreads and assists in the writing of manuscripts, grant proposals, and lab protocols.

  • Prepares reports of experiment results.

  • Performs research by completing simple experiments or steps in more complicated studies.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.



Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent as well as at least one year of relevant experience. Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Commitment to the University's core values. Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
