Job Description:
The Client Assistance Program within the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is seeking a Community Services Advocate to advise and inform applicants and individuals eligible for services and benefits available under the Rehabilitation Act.

This position provides information, referral, technical assistance, and/or dispute resolution services to applicants, potentially eligible individuals or clients of the State Vocational Rehabilitation Program in order to secure benefits and services available under the Rehabilitation Act as amended, or Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act. In addition, this position provides services to individuals seeking or receiving any of the five core services (Information and Referral, Advocacy, Independent Living Skills Training, Peer Counseling and Transition) from any of the eight Independent Living Centers in Wisconsin.

This position is located at 2811 Agriculture Drive in the Prairie Oak State Office Building situated on Madisonís southeast side and nestled atop a beautifully wooded hilltop venue. Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications (Required - Candidates must have experience and/or education relevant to these areas in order to be considered for the position):

1) Experience assisting individuals with disabilities by providing access to rehabilitation and/or community services via coordination with other agencies, organizations and advocates

2) Experience working in conflict resolution or mediation (Assist internal/external customers by: handling complaints, corresponding with upset individuals, mediating disputes, negotiating techniques, determination of legal remedies, etc.)

3) Conducting investigations by using investigative techniques and procedures (review/develop an investigatory plan; gather evidence; interview participants; evaluation of evidence; etc.)

A well-qualified candidate will also have experience and/or training in the following areas:

1) Experience referencing, researching, and/or implementing policies, procedures, regulations and laws pertaining to rehabilitation programs

2) Development and implementation of training programs and/or outreach materials

3) Working knowledge of the Rehabilitation Act and/or basic working knowledge of other titles within the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act

Regular travel within the State of Wisconsin is required.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driverís license, or the ability to provide oneís own transportation for work purposes.

Due to the sensitive nature of the work, individuals must be able to maintain confidentiality.
