 About This Position
The Department of Medicine at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate to study DNA repair mechanisms in normal and tumor cells. The Postdoctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Postdoctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.
The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
- Performs specialized and complex experiments.
- Participates in the publication of significant research results.
- Advances expertise through education, training, and research.
- Writes extramural proposals to gain support when appropriate.
- Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.
- Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.
- Performs calculations to complete research test results.
- Performs photography and dark room processing.
- Participates in training sessions and workshops.
Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in a life science field of study, M.D., or other doctoral-level degree. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Solid training in molecular or cancer biology. Strong laboratory skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to design biological experiments, with appropriate controls and conditions to address specific biological questions. The ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to write manuscripts independently.
