Job Description:

The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking an Imaging Technician 1 to work in the Lennar Foundation Medical Center. This position consists of daily Echography care and management of all Bascom Palmer Eye Institute patients, assisting with junior Echography training, and maintaining all digital equipment and image storage by transferring and archiving all imagery. Further facades of the job include providing assistance with Junior Echography, OR Echography, and actively participating / assisting in research projects related to Ophthalmic Echography. In addition, the position consist of patient screening and visual acuity, Humphrey Visual Field testing and be able to perform keratometry, axial eye length measurement and IOL calculations, and with a willingness to learn more diagnostic ophthalmic photography techniques.

Minimum requirements are as follows: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Additional photography courses desired. Five years of Ophthalmic Photography experience required or educational experience. Have extensive knowledge of professional ethics involved in a hospital setting and among doctor and patients. Ability to work well with patients (infants to geriatrics) and co-workers.

Skills required:

  • Extensive knowledge of cameras, general photographic equipment.

  • Extensive knowledge of general photographic principles and their applications to ophthalmic photography.

  • Working knowledge of Digital storage systems.

  • Operational knowledge of Fundus cameras, Slit lamp camera, Ocular Coherence Tomography.

  • Extensive knowledge of Fundus Photography and Flourescein Angiography

  • Detailed knowledge of eye anatomy and physiology.

  • Detailed knowledge of eye diseases and systemic diseases that affect the eye and how they manifest through Ophthalmic Photography.

  • Confidentiality of protected health information (PHI)

  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
