Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories PSS is searching for a Principal Mass Spec Scientist in Kenilworth, NJ

Principal Mass Spec Scientist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyze proteins and monoclonal antibodies using LC-MS methodologies to confirm the primary sequence and characterize post-translational modifications

  • Design experiments and critically analyze the data to determine next steps

  • Troubleshoot method and instrumentation problems

  • Perform tests accurately

  • Produce written documents (technical reports, memos, SOPs)

  • Use office‑ and instrumentation‑specific computer software

  • Serve as administrator of analytical instrumentation systems

  • Train technical staff as needed

  • Give technical presentations on work performed

The ideal candidate would possess :

  • Experience in protein chemistry and characterization with strong background in Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (i.e. Characterization of Post-translational Modifications (PTMs), Peptide Mapping, Intact Mass, etc).

  • Strong scientific, computer, and organizational skills

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving/investigational skills

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

  • Professional and technical written communication skills

Basic Minimum Qualifications :

  • Doctorate degree in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or other related degree concentration, with 2-3 years post doctoral experience or industrial experience in protein MS or Master's degree in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or other related degree concentration with at least 5 years of directly related biopharmaceutical characterization experience

  • Experience with Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry

  • Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry

  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Kenilworth, NJ are encouraged to apply.
