Principal Sensory Scientist Group Leader - Sensory Science



Employee Responsibilities:




  • Development of training programs for multiple product categories




  • Development of procedures and methodologies.




  • Collaborate with business partners to ensure alignment across organization




  • Modify supporting lab procedures as needed and document supporting work instructions




  • Establishing panel performance metrics and monitoring it throughout the year




  • Establish standards for testing and help manage demand/ need for upcoming projects




  • Document and create work instructions to support program




  • Writes, edits and updates SOPs, WI and other documentations




  • Documents results appropriately in notebooks, LIMS, or on testing forms




  • Applies GMP/GLP/ISO 17025 compliance standards in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate




  • Keeps accurate records, follows instructions, and complies with company policies




  • Recognizes errors, identifies root causes, and applies process improvements




  • Tracking panel performance and providing feedback to panelists




  • Assisting technicians as needed to prepare and serve samples to the panel according to instructions.




  • Screening, training, and panel refreshing




  • Assist with creating test ballots (paper or computer), and running basic statistical analyses




  • Assist or drive sensory report write up and make recommendations as needed




  • Present program changes as needed




  • As needed and requested by client, perform development, optimization, and validation of methods in support of sensory evaluation work.




  • Demonstrates strong client service skills, teamwork, and collaboration




  • Maintains working areas appropriately (cleaning, disinfecting, etc…)




  • Possesses strong computer, scientific, quality orientation, and organizational skills




  • Provides clear feedback




  • Communicates (oral and written) effectively and shows attention to detail




  • Uses self-motivation, adaptability, sound decision making, and positive attitude






Leadership:



  • Ensures that the quality policy program, client expectation and policies are understood, implemented, and maintained at all levels of the organization; identifies, prevents, or corrects any departures from the quality system




  • Develops and implements operational improvements




  • Coaches, trains, and develops others within the group with respect to their personal development and effective implementation of operational improvements




  • Coordinates workflow and performs daily monitoring to meet TAT




  • Conducts semiannual performance reviews, interviews applicants, keeps training records up to date for assigned employees, performs succession planning in preparation for growth




  • Confronts and addresses problems, concerns, and performance issues




  • Coaches and develops individual and team to maximize performance




  • Fosters motivation and positive morale




  • Monitors and approves employees' time worked through time-entry system




  • Expands self-awareness and develops leadership skills as defined; attends applicable leadership training based on identified needs




  • Performs and/or assigns other duties as requested to ensure smooth operation of department




  • Calculates, evaluates, reviews, approves, and properly communicates data verbally and in written format to management and client





Minimum Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's in chemistry; Master or Doctorate degree preferred




  • At least five years in-depth technical experience in laboratory in chemistry or related scientific discipline




  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
