Job Description:

Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories, a nationally recognized laboratory, is searching for an Scientist to the Bioassay Development team for our Professional Scientific Services group in the Gaithersburg, MD area.


Analyst responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :




  • Develop, optimize, qualify mechanism of action reflective functional assays to support lot release and stability testing as well as characterization of novel therapeutic modalities. Provide testing support as required.




  • Support the identification, evaluation and implementation of cutting-edge technologies to establish and improve in process, release, and characterization bioactivity and potency testing and may provide testing support




  • Assist in the authoring of documents including presentations, reports, SOPs, etc. as appropriate




  • Candidates must have a thorough understanding of cell culture and hands-on experience with in vitro assay techniques (ELISA, qpCR, cell-based assays) and their applications in assessing e.g. cellular signaling, receptor binding, cytokine secretion, cell proliferation, cytotoxicity, antibody effector function




  • Virology expertise, GMP and potency assay experience is a bonus





The ideal candidate would possess :




  • Work well in a team setting and interface with different research and development departments




  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and display good leadership and teamwork skills

  • Knowledge of experimental documentation in accordance with lab notebook policies




  • Maintain awareness of new technologies, current industrial technical and scientific literature

  • Confident and independent




  • Enthusiastic, flexible, demonstrating leadership qualities





Basic Minimum Qualifications :




  • PhD in a life sciences discipline. Post doc experience optional. Drug development Industry experience preferred.




  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship





Position is full-time, Monday through Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Gaithersburg, MD are encouraged to apply.
