About This Position

The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami has an exciting career opportunity for a Clinical Research Coordinator. The Clinical Program Coordinator assists in the development, organization, production, and evaluation of a variety of health promotion and educational program offerings for patients in the assigned unit. Moreover, this employee provides general oversight to daily program activities in support of the University's mission. The Clinical Program Coordinator also monitors the financial performance of programs to meet departmental goals and assists with short- and long-range budgetary planning.

The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:



  • Evaluates program effectiveness, analyzes results, and recommends appropriate action.

  • Coordinates program activities with other program, department or staff activities, ensuring optimum efficiency.

  • Trains, develops, and empowers staff to effectively perform their jobs.

  • Acts as a main point of contact for project funders, advisors, speakers, and participants, and recruits program participants, members, and volunteers.

  • Develops cooperative relationships with patients and families by projecting a positive image and creating a professional atmosphere.

  • Develops program communications and promotional literature for distribution, including newsletters, brochures, and flyers.

  • Prepares periodic reports, financial statements, and records for management or outside agencies.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality as well as the confidentiality of hospital business information.

  • Oversees the maintenance of established supply levels in unit and supply rooms.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

  • Serve as a program representative and champion for Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) patients.

  • Establish relationships with various clinical and support staff, local and national programs and foundations, as well as patients and families.

  • Develop and maintain up to date print and web-based content for staff and external contacts to effectively share information about the AYA program, social and educational opportunities, and special events for the AYA patient population.

  • Serve as a liaison between the patients and families and the clinical teams.

  • Able to respond to patient questions, suggestions and feedback, triaging and collaborating with clinical teams, social work, and support services staff.

  • Manage day to day short-term and long-term needs of the AYA patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

  • Assists with on treatment and post treatment related issues (i.e return to work and financial resources).

  • Serve as a liaison to bridge transition from pediatric to adult setting when applicable.

  • Organize, plan, and execute events dedicated to AYA cancer patients.

  • Participate in oncology service line committees that related to the needs of AYA cancer patients.

  • Assist and collaborate with social work with grant funding for patient assistance that complies with health system policy and procedures.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study as well as at least two years of relevant work experience. BLS Certified or certified within 3 months of hire.
