About This Position
The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Diabetes Research Institute has an exciting career opportunity for a part-time Sr. Research Assistant. This position performs comprehensive clinical laboratory tests, procedures and services to support the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, lipid and other metabolic related disorders. Processes patient specimens and completes required paperwork. Maintains all required documentation of records pertaining to the operation of the clinical laboratory, including but not limited to: specimen logs, records, safety equipment and quality control programs.
High school diploma or equivalent as well as at least three years of work experience in a clinical laboratory. Skills needed in clinical chemistry, including RIA, electrophoresis, HPLC, ELISA and other specialized esoteric testing. State laboratory licensed (lab tech). Experience in clinic or large group practice environment is preferred. Computer and laboratory equipment skills. Organizational skills. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority. As a result, during the Influenza ("the flu") season (September through April), the University of Miami School of Medicine requires all employees who provide ongoing services to patients, work in a location (all Hospitals and clinics) where patient care is provided, or work in patient care or clinical care areas, to have an annual influenza vaccination.
