ABOUT THE POSITION

The University of Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) mission is to increase the efficiency and speed of moving scientific discoveries into treatments and interventions for better health. The CTSI drives research translation into evidence-based clinical and community practices that improve the health of South Florida's diverse population. It achieves this through educating, connecting, and supporting research teams by building the distinct science of clinical translational research, fostering collaboration, and managing the resources needed to sustain success in these areas.

The University of Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) seeks to hire a Sr. Database Analyst (Data Engineer) who will work closely to facilitate research collaboration with local Miami CTSI Hub partners including Jackson Health System, Health Choice Network, the OneFlorida Clinical Research Consortium, and various other organizations. The incumbent will create Common Data Models provided by the CTSA Network's Center for Leading Innovation & Collaboration, assist in creating various predictive data models to be used by researchers and clinicians, and increase the use of clinical, research and publicly available data sets. S/he will participate in systems analysis and design using development, quality assurance and integration methodologies as well as create modern data pipelines, data streaming, and real time analytics in conjunction with internal CTSI informatics team members.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience. Experience with healthcare and/or medical applications related to clinical, bio-medical, and/or research is strongly preferred. Other knowledge and skills needed include:



  • Experience with SQL server, SSIS, SQL

  • Effective work experience developing, integrating, and supporting data systems and working with a combination of both relational and NoSQL databases related to data mining and/or analytics

  • Knowledge of functional, structured and/or object oriented programming required

  • Familiar with BI technologies in addition to core application development tools

  • Experience with Windows and Linux server operating systems

  • Knowledge of Azure cloud computing technologies

  • Proficient in the Microsoft business productivity suite, including Visio

  • Ability to write complex, efficient queries against large, disparate data sources

  • Experience with Linux, Python, R, PHP

  • Experience developing custom API/SOAP/Microservices/REST Web Services

  • Proficiency in BI tools such as Business Objects or Cognos

  • Experience creating dashboards using Power BI, Tableau or other visualization tools

  • Experience with XML, JSON, HL7,FHIR
