This role is responsible for overseeing the operations of all manufacturing areas in the facility and the warehouse. Functions as the Champion for all Health and Safety initiatives and ensures all H&S policies, programs and procedures are implemented and followed in order to maintain a safe environment for all employees in all areas of the facility. Ensures the teams implement, and follow our food safety processes and procedures in all areas of the facility.
The Operations Manager also understands and translates the manufacturing strategy into a "living" operational plan which is clearly understood and owned by their team on a daily basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

Health & Safety - Ensures that a safe working environment exists for all employees in their operation and that as a minimum their area meets the standards set out in the Group Health & Safety policy.
Technical Integrity - Ensures standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within their area appropriate to a quality food manufacturer.
Manufacturing Strategy - Inputs, understands and translates the manufacturing strategy into a "living" Operational Plan which is clearly understood and owned by their Team.
Measurement & Control - Utilizes appropriate agreed KPI's as a basis for the development of Performance Improvement Plans within the Operation and cascades these KPI's through the Operational Team, ensuring that they are translated and used at all levels. Plans, organizes, and measure resources to ensure that targets for production are met.
NPD Process - Manages the NPD process within their operation to ensure that all trials run successfully and through to product launch.
People Development - Owns training and development and performance management of individuals within their area to enable progression to resource growth or to replace current roles, and to ensure that the necessary skills are in place at all levels.
Communication - Ensures that the workforce in their operation is well informed on relevant business news and encourages effective cross-functional links and those channels of communication are clear and available.
Employee Relations - Supports and develops a site culture in their area where individuals feel able to challenge the status quo and encourage feedback from all levels. Supports and implements change processes within their area in line with Bakkavör values.
Continuous Improvement - Proactively looks at ways to improve their operation. A key player in delivering the agreed factory capital expenditure plans within the agreed factory budget.
This role manages large teams across multiple disciplines in the manufacturing areas and warehouse. This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE
B.S or Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; with at least seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three plus years or equivalent progressive management development within manufacturing and supply chain functions. Must have demonstrated management experience in chilled food manufacturing. Experience directly interfacing with the customer is strongly preferred. Experience dealing with seasonal or highly variable and complex production schedules is essential.
FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for oversight of their areas of responsibility of the plant's Food Safety & Quality Management Systems. This position provides oversight and guidance to staff members to ensure the manufacturing of quality food and is responsible for identifying product that does not meet the food safety and quality requirements of the company, and preventing its distribution.
Aility to read, analyzes, and interprets professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Has the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Has the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
