DESC Chemical Dependency Specialists Hiring Fair

Are you a believer in working towards creative and innovation solutions to society's most vexing problems? If so, a Chemical Dependency Specialist position may be for you! We are looking for candidates to fill roles with two of our Clinical Teams: SHARP & PACT. Please refer to the "Program Description" section below for more details.

Duties will include acting as the team's subject matter expert for chemical dependency issues. Provide consultation to other team member's regarding CD issues, treatment, and education. Provide individual and group chemical dependency treatment in office and in community settings using a stage-based treatment model that is non-confrontational, considers interactions of mental illness and substance use, and has participant-determined goals. Be comfortable with Harm Reduction and Motivational Interviewing approaches.

Qualified Candidates Will Have:

•A License from the State of Washington as Chemical Dependency Professional


•Bachelor's degree in social service field AND license by the State of Washington as a CDP Trainee and any other government-required certification, registration or license as may be appropriate.

•Experience working with adults who are experiencing or who have experienced homelessness, have a mental illness and/or co-occurring substance abuse disorders.

•Interest in or experience working with participants who are difficult to engage and refer to traditional programs.

•Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff from various backgrounds.

•Ability to work effectively with clients displaying a wide range of unpleasant and/or bizarre behavior.

•Valid Washington State Driver's License, reliable vehicle for work and insurable driving record.

•Subscribe to the philosophy of cooperation and continuity across programs and of consideration and respect for others.


SHARP: The Services and Housing to Access Recovery Program (SHARP) works directly with the Coordinated Entry for All system to provide housing-focused outreach and support to single adults experiencing chronic homelessness and living with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. SHARP strive to fill in gaps in the system and support folks whose behavioral healthcare needs are currently unmet by traditional outpatient resources. Through meaningful outreach and engagement in the community, SHARP's multidisciplinary team empowers participants to regain the stability needed to work towards their long-term goals and dreams.

PACT: Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) is a national evidence based model within DESC that provides intensive case management and outreach to some of King's County most vulnerable population. The PACT model utilizes a multi-interdisciplinary approach to provide wraparound care for our clients. The team includes case managers, Master-level clinicians, a psychiatrist, ARNP, RNs, CD specialist, peer support, and vocational specialist. PACT services are licensed under the Washington State Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery and are provided under contract with King County Mental Health, Chemical Abuse & Dependency Services Division. Services are provided within a Recovery model.
