Job Description:
The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) currently has an opening for an Administrative Manager - Deputy Administrator in our Division of Food and Recreational Safety, Bureau of Policy, Budget and Administrative Services.

We are located in the Prairie Oak State Office Building situated on Madisonís southeast side and nestled atop a beautifully wooded and scenic hilltop venue. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations.

The incumbent will share responsibility and accountability with the Administrator for directing, coordinating, planning, monitoring, and evaluating the operational activities for all program areas within the Division of Food and Recreational Safety. This position will also, as delegated by the Administrator or in the absence of an Administrator, make final Division-level decisions on personnel, policy, compliance, and rule-revision issues; and represents the Division in discussions with stakeholders and state and federal governmental partners. This position will have primary responsibility for Division internal operations, including first-level human resources and fiscal affairs, Division-wide infrastructure, policy development, standardization, and administrative support. The position will also contribute expertise in project management and mentoring to ensure Bureau Directors achieve programmatic and performance goals set for each Bureau. This position will involve work and coordination with other divisions within the Department and with external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications (Required - Candidates must have experience relevant to these areas in order to be considered for the position):
1.) Demonstrated experience making executive level decisions that broadly impact or support a business or agency's strategy/mission

2.) Extensive food, lodging, or recreational industry knowledge/experience in one or more of the following areas: licensing and/or inspection of manufactured food, dairy, retail food, meat, poultry, lodging, and/or recreational establishments

3.) Experience as a representative of a department/organization collaborating with stakeholder groups (e.g. federal, state and local government or legislative officials; executive management; advisory councils; associations, the public, etc.)

A Well Qualified Candidate will also have experience in the following areas:
1.) Budget management experience (e.g. developing, managing and controlling an annual budget; assessing program funding needs, grants, contracts, awards, proposals and fees; assessing resource allocation for staffing, equipment, funding, resources, etc.)

2.) Experience managing/supervising high level staff (e.g. participating in recruitment and selection process, scheduling/delegating work assignments, conducting performance evaluations, developing staff training objectives and professional development, recommending disciplinary actions, etc.)

3.) Experience directing internal operations (e.g. program management, policy development and implementation, compliance, administrative rule-making processes, standardization, etc.)
