Salary: $23.00 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities
• Assess children’s background and relevant skill strengths and needs
• Assist children to sort out options and develop plans of action while providing necessary support and assistance
• Meet with children to assess their progress, give support, and counsel regarding any difficulties or problems
• Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs by tracking children’s’ behavioral changes and responses to interventions
• Administer multiple medications to teen with special needs.
• Aid in the development of ADL "activities of daily living" for teen with special needs.
• Required to take children to school and to local activities either by public transportation, or by walking to locations in the neighborhood.
• Daily supervision and direct assistance with homework, reading and other academic and or school related areas.
• Plan and arrange extra-curricular activities for children.
• Identifying, suggesting, and participating in specific services within the community to address the specific needs of children.
• May perform light housekeeping duties and plan and prep meals as required
• May run errands as necessary

Qualifications and Assets
• 3-5 years’ experience working with children
• Degree or diploma in Psychology or a related field (social work, education, nursing, OT etc)
• Specialized training in working with developmentally/physically delayed children
• Must possess a strong command of the English language (including reading, writing and verbal)
• Ability and confidence to appropriately discipline children
• First Aid and CPR qualified, and the confidence to treat minor injuries
• Experience administering medications and emergency procedures
• Reliable, respectful individual with a good sense of humor, honesty, and punctuality
• Understanding of the issues that affect families experiencing grief, bereavement and loss of parent is an asset
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours
• Must be a non-smoker.
