Requirements Analyst (Fairfax, VA)


Gathers, documents, communicates, and reviews requirements. Responsible for the identification, documentation and communication of product changes that are necessary to improve software development performance. Evaluates customer's goals for the product and defines functional and quality requirements. Obtains data from independent observation, consultation with technical staff members or study of published materials and drawings. Ensures accuracy and completeness of technical documentation. Ensures adherence to specifications such as Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and IEEE.


Job Responsibilities



  • Evaluates requirements and their characteristics. Obtains stakeholder commitments to requirements to include identifying, involving, and documenting stakeholder involvement and decisions.

  • Uses a requirements management system to document requirements, prioritizes and tracks history of changes. Creates and executes queries in Requirement Management System.

  • Contributes to requirement reviews and refinement meetings.

  • Uses graphics (photographs, drawings, diagrams, etc.) that increase the end users' understanding of the Customer/program system.

  • Ensures alignment between project work and requirements and updates entries on a bidirectional requirements traceability matrix. Creates acceptance criteria, organizes requirement reviews, and reviews test cases.

  • Elicits customer needs and captures them into requirements that meet project standards.

  • Establishes product and product component requirements, allocates product component requirements, and identifies interface requirements.

  • Defines required functionality and quality attributes, contributes to the analysis and validation of requirements.

  • Provides production support by checking system performance and responding to assigned user questions and queries.

  • Identifies and tracks bugs, issues, and risks that arise throughout the software development life cycle.

  • Identifies and communicates improvements to the software development process.

  • Proactively works with programmers, developers, and other software professionals to build
    and produce diagrams, presentations, documentation, and other relevant materials.

  • Experience documenting an enterprise system in accordance with DoDAF version 2.X

  • Experience with Orbus iServer or other DoDAF document repository

  • Familiar with phases of the software development working alongside colleagues involved with the design, development, and implementation. Familiar with the use and terminology associated with technologies such as Java, .net, PHP, Oracle, SQL Server, or other programming languages.

  • Proactively Works with programmers, developers, and other software professionals to build and produce diagrams, presentations, documentation, and other relevant materials.



Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience.

  • 2-5 years of experience

  • Active Secret security clearance
